Questions

Everything people ask before they start. If yours isn't here, ask me directly — I read all of it.

Getting started

Do I need a gym?

No. HybridBuild only programmes movements you can do with the equipment you told it you own — from a single kettlebell up to a full gym. If you have nothing at all, it writes a bodyweight and running plan.

How long does setup take?

One questionnaire: your equipment, any injuries, your race date if you have one, how many sessions a week you want and how long each should be. Your first weeks are written straight after.

Do I need a race booked?

No. A race date shapes how the plan builds toward it, but without one you get an open-ended plan that keeps progressing.

Equipment

How does it know what weights to give me?

You enter an inventory rather than a guess at your maximum: how many barbells and what each weighs, how many plates of each size, how many loadable handles. Loads are derived from that, so a session never asks for a weight you cannot physically build — no 15kg prescription when your lightest bar weighs 20kg empty.

What equipment does it support?

Rowing and ski ergs, assault and spin bikes, barbells and plates, loadable dumbbell handles, fixed dumbbells, kettlebells, sandbags, wall balls, a box, a sled, a bench, battle ropes, a pull-up bar and a jump rope. Any combination, including none.

My gear changed. Can I update it?

Yes, in settings. You choose whether the change applies from today, from next week, or triggers a full rebuild of the plan.

Training

Does the plan change as I train?

Yes. Each new week is written from the previous week's logged sets, weights and effort ratings, rather than following a fixed template. Train harder and it moves; have a rough week and it accounts for that too.

What if I cannot do one of the exercises?

Every exercise can be swapped for an alternative that uses your gear. You choose whether the swap applies to that session only or to the rest of the plan.

I have an injury. Can I still use it?

Injuries are part of the questionnaire and change which movements appear in your plan. It isn't medical advice — if something hurts, see a professional.

Do I have to stare at my phone during a workout?

No. Sessions are coached by audio: the next movement, your timing and your rest are spoken as you go, so the phone can stay in your pocket.

Is running included?

Running is part of the main plan. There's also an optional running add-on if you want structured runs alongside your sessions.

Devices & data

Does it work with an Apple Watch?

Yes. A companion watch app streams heart rate and calories to your phone live during the session, and saves the workout to Apple Health so it counts toward your rings.

Is there an Android version?

Yes. On Android, heart rate and calories come from Health Connect.

What happens to my health data?

It stays in your account. Heart rate, calories, weights lifted, effort ratings, injuries and questionnaire answers are never sent to an analytics or advertising provider. Product analytics are limited to which screens are opened and which features are used. The privacy policy spells it out.
